Tailor-made polymers for electrosynthesis

The project includes synthesizing and characterizing novel polymeric electrocatalysts for energy-uphill, reductive electrocatalytic reactions. You will learn about the design and the synthesis of electron- and cation-transporting conjugated polymers with hydrophilic side chains [1, 2]. The goal of the project is to explore the role of the chemical composition of the polymer on the activity and selectivity of electrochemical reductive reactions.

What you will learn from us:

  • Polymerization techniques (CH-activation, cross-coupling reactions)

  • Purification methods

  • State-of-the-art characterization techniques

After the completion of your master's thesis project, you will be able to synthesize organic semiconducting polymers.

Skills to bring:

  • Being a team player

  • Open for learning

  • Training your colleagues

  • Supporting others

This is a synthetic project - the majority of your time will be spent working within the group chemistry lab.
